Biz Sherbert's American Style x Vogue: 50 Young Americans Define Fashion

Biz Sherbert, creator of the newsletter American Style, partnered with Vogue to select 50 stylish young Americans for the magazine's 250th anniversary. The project, titled American Style x Vogue, sought applications from across the United States, including Kentucky and Puerto Rico. Finalists drew inspiration from figures like Georgia O'Keeffe, platforms like Pinterest, and personal influences such as transcendental meditation and family members. Sherbert traveled to Minnesota and Alabama to profile two finalists: Owen Peters, 19, from Minneapolis suburbs, who blends frat boy aesthetics with Jackie O style, and Chelsi Banks, 19, from Birmingham, who developed her style during COVID after starting on fashion Twitter. Sherbert describes her selection process as an intuitive mix of signals, prioritizing outfits that feel considered, unexpected, or novel. The project aims to give young people a platform to represent themselves beyond their own content, highlighting how style shapes identity.
