Billie Mandle's 'Asunder' Documents Burned Forests of Napa Valley

Billie Mandle, a talented photographer, has released her new monograph called 'Asunder,' published by TBW Books. This work focuses on the aftermath of the Glass Fire in Napa County, California, which took place in 2020. Over three years, Mandle captured the charred landscapes near her aunt's home, revealing that many of the burnt trees are still alive. The book is organized into two sections that explore the damaged environment. Mandle, who lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, teaches at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and has received grants from various organizations, including Light Work and Yaddo. Her work is part of collections at the Museum of Fine Arts in both Boston and Houston, and the publication honors the Lisjan Ohlone people's land.
