Bill Blass: American Elegance Auction at Christie's

Christie's is set to present 'Bill Blass: American Elegance,' an online auction running from September 9 to September 23, 2026. This event will showcase over 100 items from the late designer's collection, including clothing, sketches, and correspondence. Notable pieces feature a plaid suit similar to one worn by Nancy Reagan in 1988 and a vibrant gown from Blass's Spring/Summer 2004 line, famously donned by Beyoncé for InStyle. The auction will also include letters from renowned designers like Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Vera Wang. Selected works will be on display at Christie's New York from September 8 to 13, with a larger exhibition at Blass's former townhouse in Midtown Manhattan from September 18 to 22. Blass, who passed away in 2002, was a pivotal figure in American fashion, merging menswear tailoring with the comfort of sportswear. He became part of Maurice Rentner Ltd. in 1959, later renaming it Bill Blass Ltd. in 1970. This auction presents a unique chance to explore his creative journey and the influence of his designs.
