Bernard Tschumi Architects Completes Philo Science Center at Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland

Philo, a new science and innovation facility at the Institut Le Rosey boarding school near Geneva, has been completed by Bernard Tschumi Architects. Spanning 16,222 square meters, the building features a central atrium that acts as a sheltered public square, encircled by three concentric walkways: one aligns with the atrium's four levels, another links classrooms, and an outer balcony expands educational spaces outdoors. The design includes intersecting vertical and horizontal pathways for enhanced movement. The project was finalized in 2025, with Iwan Baan capturing its essence through photography. Key architects involved were Bernard Tschumi, Joel Rutten, Sonia Grobelny, and others. Structural engineering was provided by Alberti Ingénieurs SA and Arup, with additional contributions from various firms for civil engineering, acoustics, lighting, and landscape design, overseen by curator Susanna Moreira.
