Berlin's Brücke Museum Presents First Comprehensive Exhibition of Expressionist Applied Arts

The Brücke-Museum in Berlin is presenting 'Kunst Hand Werk Brücke,' the first comprehensive exhibition examining the applied arts of the Expressionist Brücke artist group. Running from March 6 to June 21, 2026, the show is supported by the Kulturstiftung der Länder with €70,300. It focuses on previously overlooked craft-based works by members including Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Max Pechstein, and Emil Nolde. The exhibition is organized by material—wood, metal, and textiles—and features items like furniture, jewelry, and tapestries, including works by Swiss textile artist Lise Gujer based on Kirchner's designs. A scholarly catalog will be published in April 2026. The exhibition will later travel to the Kunstmuseen Krefeld – Haus Lange from October 4, 2026, to March 7, 2027.
