Belvedere 21 presents 'Stellprobe' with over 150 recent acquisitions

Belvedere 21 in Vienna is staging 'Stellprobe', an exhibition featuring more than 150 artworks acquired or donated over the past decade. The title, suggested by artist Heimo Zobernig, borrows a theater term for an intermediate rehearsal stage, reflecting an experimental and intuitive arrangement that reveals new relationships among works. The show occupies the ground floor, upper floor, Blickle Cinema, and sculpture garden. It functions as a review of collection strategy and a temporary vision for a future museum. Stella Rollig, Belvedere General Director, emphasized that collecting is a core museum responsibility, shaping which artworks and histories are preserved. The exhibition presents the museum as a site of contemporaneity where art history is actively written.
