BBC Presenter Hospitalized with Frostbite During Arctic Cycling Challenge

BBC presenter Louise Minchin was hospitalized after developing frostbite during an Arctic cycling challenge in Canada's Northwest Territories. The 57-year-old was participating in the Inuvik Weekend Warrior Fat Bike Challenge, a three-day 300-mile event to raise funds for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Minchin and endurance athlete Mimi Anderson withdrew from the competition after cycling approximately 140 kilometers in temperatures as low as -40°C with wind chills reaching -36°C. Both participants required medical attention for frostbite injuries to their extremities. The incident occurred during an unusually cold period in the region, where such conditions can cause frostbite within minutes.
