Barbara Petritsch Appointed as New Doyenne of Vienna's Burgtheater
Barbara Petritsch has been named the new doyenne of Vienna's Burgtheater, with the official appointment scheduled for April 16. She succeeds Elisabeth Orth, who passed away in May of the previous year. Petritsch, born in 1945 and raised in Admont, completed her acting training at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. A member of the Burgtheater ensemble since 1999, she has participated in approximately 60 productions. In 2022, she received the professional title of Kammerschauspielerin, and she will also be granted honorary membership of the Burgtheater during a ceremonial event.
