Banksy's Love Is In The Air (Life Size) to Auction at Sotheby's London

Sotheby's Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction in London will feature Banksy's renowned 2011 life-size canvas, Love Is In The Air (Life Size), as Lot 137 on 24 June 2026. This signed piece, created with spray paint and oil on canvas, measures 210 by 210 cm and is estimated to fetch between £3,500,000 and £5,500,000. Inspired by the flower thrower from the mural Rage, The Flower Thrower in Bethlehem, Palestine, it reinterprets a confrontational act into one of hope. The image gained fame on the cover of Banksy's 2005 book Wall and Piece. A signed artist's proof of the 2003 screenprint sold for USD 687,500 at Christie's New York in December 2020. The highest auction price for a canvas version reached $12.9 million at Sotheby's New York in May 2021, where Bitcoin and Ether were accepted through a partnership with Coinbase. GraffitiStreet co-founder Donna Haden pointed out the heart-like silhouette of the bouquet, which adds depth of compassion, while co-founder Rosh Boroumand emphasized its significance as a street artwork, a coveted print, a major original canvas, and a widely recognized cultural symbol.
