Bangladeshi Artist Soma Surovi Jannat Presents Climate-Focused Exhibition at Oxford's Ashmolean Museum

Soma Surovi Jannat, an artist from Bangladesh, has her first UK solo exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. Titled 'Climate Culture Care,' the show features approximately 40 paintings and drawings created primarily during a 2023 residency. The works draw inspiration from the Sundarbans mangrove forest in Bangladesh, which faces severe threats from rising sea levels and environmental degradation. Jannat's pieces incorporate imagery from the Ashmolean's collections, blending historical artifacts with contemporary climate concerns. The exhibition runs from March 28 to November 1, addressing themes of environmental vulnerability, social inequality, and colonial legacy.
