Bahrain, a key ally of the US that hosts the Fifth Fleet, has denounced an alleged drone strike from Iran as a serious infringement on its sovereignty, asserting its right to defend itself. This accusation comes in the wake of Iran's announcement of attacks on US-affiliated sites in response to American airstrikes on its southern coast, which Iran claims breach the UN Charter. On Friday, the US military launched strikes following an Iranian drone assault on a cargo vessel in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. Vice-President J.D. Vance remarked that "violence will be met with violence," emphasizing the US's commitment to a ceasefire. In a separate development, Israel and Lebanon reached an agreement to cease hostilities with Hezbollah, demanding the group's disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces, though compliance remains uncertain as Hezbollah has declined to cooperate.
