Aydnco Designs Modern Gelato Shop in Historic Melbourne Building with Sun-Themed Lighting

Aydnco Commercial Interiors has completed a design project for Mondo Gelateria, located in a 150-year-old heritage building on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne. The studio transformed the historic space by preserving original architectural elements while introducing contemporary features. Key interventions include a sculptural light fixture inspired by the brand's sun logo, with linear rays displaying global coordinates. The interior features a monochromatic color scheme with warm peach walls, contrasting with deep burgundy banquette seating and a brushed metal counter. The design aims to balance historic preservation with modern retail experience, emphasizing the brand's focus on global culture and artisanal craftsmanship. Lighting techniques and material choices create a cohesive environment that highlights both the building's heritage and the gelato as 'edible art.' The project integrates brand identity through spatial elements rather than traditional signage.
