Austrian Textile Artist Silke Presents Retrospective Book at Museum of Fine Arts

Austrian contemporary textile artist Silke will present her art book "Vida y Obra. Silke y la Seda" on April 6 at the Museum of Fine Arts. The nearly 300-page publication offers an intimate retrospective of her career, connecting personal history with creative vision. Silke, a pioneer in textile art in Argentina, began her professional journey in 1965 with her first tapestry exhibition. Her work explores spiritual themes through textiles, drawing, and painting, creating immersive experiences that invite viewers to connect with universal archetypes. Key series include "Los Arcanos en Seda" (1998), featuring 21 tapests based on Tarot archetypes; "The Four Elements" (1986-2012), a 50-work exploration of natural forces as universal symbols; and "All Are One" (2008-2019), focusing on fundamental unity among beings. Her exhibitions have been shown internationally in countries including Poland, Portugal, the United States, Spain, Germany, Austria, South Korea, and Russia. The book presentation will include Pilar Tobón, an important figure in contemporary textile art development. Silke's approach views art as a bridge between inner and outer worlds, with color, movement, and light serving spiritual expression.
