Australian Museum's Ramses Exhibition Sets Attendance Record with Over 350,000 Visitors
The Australian Museum's exhibition 'Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs' has become the institution's most attended show in history, selling more than 350,000 tickets. Featuring 182 artifacts from Egypt, many displayed outside their home country for the first time, the exhibition offers virtual reality experiences and educational programming. Museum Director Kim McKay AO noted the display provides a tangible connection to ancient Egyptian civilization beyond books and films. Due to high demand, extended hours have been implemented through mid-May. The exhibition is presented with partners including NEON, World Heritage Exhibitions, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science, with support from Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and NSW government funding.
