Australian Museum Appoints Ichthyology Fellow to Study Coral Reef Biodiversity
Dr Yi-Kai Tea has begun a Chadwick Biodiversity Research Fellowship at the Australian Museum's Ichthyology division. The early-career researcher, known online as 'Kai the Fish Guy,' focuses on uncovering hidden species and evolutionary histories of coral reef fishes. He recently completed a six-week deep-sea expedition in the Indian Ocean Territories aboard the CSIRO RV Investigator. Tea plans to continue taxonomic work on wrasses, engage in museum outreach programs, and leverage digital resources for scientific communication. The fellowship supports dedicated taxonomic research at one of the world's largest coral reef fish collections.
