Atelier dei Moderni: Matisse, Braque, Picasso, Bacon at Reggia di Venaria

From October 2, 2026, to February 14, 2027, the Reggia di Venaria in Turin, Italy, will host the exhibition 'Atelier dei Moderni. Matisse, Braque, Picasso, Bacon', featuring around sixty works loaned from the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. Curated by Sylvie Ramond, the show presents a non-linear reading of 20th-century art, emphasizing the atelier as a space of creation, experimentation, and exchange. Alongside masters like Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, and Francis Bacon, the exhibition includes works by Raoul Dufy, Max Ernst, Jean Dubuffet, Sonia and Robert Delaunay, Pierre Soulages, Nicolas de Staël, and Simon Hantaï. The display is organized into fifteen sections, alternating monographic and thematic focuses, with photographs of artists' studios enhancing the narrative. Special attention is given to Matisse, whose 'Katia with Yellow Shirt' (1951) serves as the exhibition's key image. The concept of the atelier extends to educational programs, with a dedicated area for young visitors to experiment with techniques and materials. The exhibition is produced in collaboration with the Reggia di Venaria and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, marking a significant cultural exchange between Italy and France.
