Artpace's Spring 2026 International Artists-in-Residence Exhibition Features Violette Bule, Mel Chin, and Việt Lê

The Spring 2026 International Artists-in-Residence exhibition at Artpace showcases the works of Violette Bule, Mel Chin, and Việt Lê, with Aleesa Pitchamarn Alexander serving as curator. This exhibition will be on display until July 19, 2026. Bule's piece, 'Hydra,' incorporates barbed wire, a golden turnstile, and televisions that present disturbing immigration statistics alongside speeches from recent U.S. presidents. Mel Chin's 'Hauntology of Their Labor' features office chair seats adorned with skulls, drawing from Jacques Derrida's concept of hauntology. Việt Lê's 'trăng trắng | milk moon' combines elements of Buddhism, pop music, and divination, including a performance at the opening. The exhibition addresses themes of surveillance, the carceral state, death, labor, commodification, and spirituality, recognized for its striking aesthetics and profound themes, with installation photography by Michael Cirlos.
