Arri Sells Global Rental Business to H2 Equity Partners

market-auction · 2026-07-13

Arri, acquired by German entrepreneur Thomas Riedel in April, has agreed to sell its global rental operations in Europe, the UK, and North America to H2 Equity Partners, a Western European investment firm founded in 1991 with over £500 million in committed funding. The sale addresses a structural conflict of interest between Arri's manufacturing and rental businesses, as the company supplies cameras and lighting to customers who compete with its rental arm. Arri has been renting cameras since 1955. The move allows Arri to focus on developing camera, lighting, and software products. Illumination Dynamics remains under Arri ownership. Dana Harrison, a key figure in Arri Rental UK, will lead the management buy-out, with H2 Equity Partners supporting growth. Patrick Kalverboer, Managing Partner of H2 Equity Partners, emphasized the strong market position and team. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction is undergoing standard closing procedures.
