Armory Show Launches Acquisition Prizes with PAMM and Bronx Museum

The Armory Show, a leading New York art fair, has announced its first two acquisition prizes in its over thirty-year history. During the 2026 edition, scheduled from September 24 to 27 at the Javits Center in New York, the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and the Bronx Museum of the Arts will receive dedicated funds to acquire new works for their permanent collections. The PAMM Acquisition Prize will provide $20,000, with selections made within the Focus section, which this year highlights Caribbean art and its diasporas. The acquisition will also support the Green Family Foundation Caribbean Cultural Institute, a research and curatorial platform created by PAMM to expand knowledge of Caribbean cultural production. The Bronx Museum Acquisition Prize will start from a fund of an unspecified amount. This initiative marks a new model in the American art world where fairs directly finance museum acquisitions, strengthening ties between commercial and institutional sectors.
