Arid Architecture Transforms 1950s Athens Corner Building into Veil Residential Project
In Athens' Patisia neighborhood, the architectural firm Arid has reimagined a two-story corner building originally constructed in 1951. The Veil residential project, completed in 2023, spans 850 square meters. The design team was led by architects Mathilda Beraha, Roxani Maragkoudaki, and Dimitris Sotiropoulos, with Giannis Shoinas contributing to the design team. Landscape architecture was handled by Scape, while Callen ATEE served as the general contractor. Engineering and consulting involved multiple specialists: HMeng for mechanical systems, Dimitris Antonopoulos and Andreas Alexandropoulos for structural engineering, and Anastasia Philippopoulou for lighting design. Photography documenting the transformation was provided by Giorgos Sfakianakis, Yiorgos Kordakis, and Vasilis Fotiou. The project was curated by Hadir Al Koshta. This architectural intervention has given a new identity to a structure located in a significant area of Athens' urban fabric.
