Arcis Saxophon Quartett Releases 'Quirky Nightclub Chronicles'

The Arcis Saxophon Quartett, named after the Arcisstraße in Munich where the Hochschule für Musik und Theater is located, has released a new album titled 'Quirky Nightclub Chronicles' on the arcis records label. The album features works by composers Shuteen Erdenebaatar, Marc Mellits, Emma O'Halloran, and Astor Piazzolla. Erdenebaatar's 'Echoes of Life' is a five-movement piece originally created for the quartet's '2xGETANZT' format, exploring states of awakening, growth, reflection, transformation, and sparkle. Mellits' 'Tapas' consists of eight short movements inspired by Spanish tapas cuisine. O'Halloran's 'Night Music' reflects on a year she spent in Miami at age 21, capturing the city's heat, colors, and Latin music. The album also includes 'Moments with Piazzolla', an arrangement by Sylvain Dedenon and Arcís of five Piazzolla pieces: Escualo, Oblivion, Contrabajeando, Libertango, and Tango del Angel. The quartet comprises Claus Hierluksch (soprano saxophone), Bernardo Correia Pereira (alto saxophone), Sonia Tcherepanov (tenor saxophone), and Jure Knez (baritone saxophone). The album was released on June 17, 2020, in CD and digital formats, with a total duration of 51:29.
