Architecture Week Promotes Design Education and Youth Engagement

Architecture Week is an annual event organized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) to celebrate architecture and design, with a focus on engaging K-12 students. In 2025, participation saw significant growth: design professionals involved doubled to 505, architecture firms increased from 96 to 131, school programming expanded by 400%, and student engagement nearly doubled to 20,600. AIA provides resources like a K-12 resource page with lesson plans and reading materials, and is developing new tools including a classroom toolkit in collaboration with the American Society of Landscape Architects and a guide for high school design competitions. Architecture Week connects architects and design professionals with educators through local AIA chapters and partner organizations, offering opportunities for volunteering, donations, and resource sharing. The event encourages professionals to engage with young people in schools and communities to foster creativity and build a more informed public.
