Apple unveils Siri AI powered by Google Gemini at WWDC 2026

At the recent Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in Cupertino, California, Apple introduced a major upgrade to Siri, now powered by Google's Gemini model. This new version of Siri ditches the scripted responses, allowing for more fluid conversations, better multitasking across apps, and the ability to keep track of chat histories. A public beta is expected later this year for English-speaking devices. Francisco Jeronimo, from International Data Corporation, pointed out that Apple aims to integrate AI into the operating system rather than just as a separate app, making Siri a key part of this strategy. Unfortunately, users in China won't have immediate access. Jeronimo also noted that John Ternus, the incoming hardware chief, has a solid foundation to work with but must find a new direction for intelligent hardware.
