This fall, Christie's will auction artworks from the Antonio Homem Sonnabend Collection, anticipated to surpass $50 million, during the 20th/21st Century Evening Sales held in London, Paris, and New York. Antonio Homem Sonnabend, who passed away in March, was the adopted child of renowned art dealers Ileana and Michael Sonnabend. The collection primarily showcases pieces from the late 1950s and 1960s, featuring artists such as Mario Schifano, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Jeff Koons, and Roy Lichtenstein. The auction's proceeds will benefit an endowment for the Mantova museum, which Antonio contributed to opening in 2025. Ileana's impact on postwar art is notable, having established Sonnabend Gallery in 1971.
