Antonio Biasiucci's 'Archetipi' Volume Accompanies Reggia di Caserta Retrospective

Published by Allemandi, Archetipi gathers more than four decades of Antonio Biasiucci's photographic research, recombining images from concluded series into fresh sequences. The 184-page volume, with 110 illustrations, accompanies the retrospective on view at the Reggia di Caserta from 21 May to 30 November 2026. Bread, lava, animal bodies and traces of the human body recur across Biasiucci's subjects; through framing and measured light he isolates their physical traits, loosening them from everyday function. His method is slow: he lingers before a subject, returns, repeats the gesture until the first impression is exhausted and the image is stripped toward an essential form. Black holds back what need not be shown while illuminated matter gains physical presence. In the book, surgical editing rebuilds the photographs into a sequence crossing individual projects, some facing each other across spreads, others isolated against white. Saglietti Studio's graphic design uses a square format and printing on Gardamatt Art paper, giving the object a precise material consistency. The hardcover measures 28 × 28 cm; ISBN 9788842228448. Memory runs through the pictures without collapsing into nostalgia: peasant life, animals, labor and everyday objects are pulled from their immediate context by repetition and subtraction, exceeding the biographical. Archetipi is not a summation but a rereading of a practice still open.
