Antonio Barrese's 'Morfologie di luce' Opens at Fondazione Marcello Morandini

The Fondazione Marcello Morandini in Varese presents 'Antonio Barrese: Morfologie di luce,' a survey of over sixty years of the artist's research, running until December 20, 2026. Curated by Stefania Gaudiosi, the exhibition features works and images from 1965 to 2025, using light as a central material to shape space and perception. Barrese, founder of the Gruppo MID (Mutamento Immagine Dimensione) in 1964 with Alfonso Grassi, Gianfranco Laminarca, and Alberto Marangoni, was a pioneer in interactive and kinetic art. After the group dissolved in 1972, he continued in design, winning three Compassi d'Oro. The show includes interactive installations, stroboscopic objects, and recent productions. A public program offers free conferences on July 17 and October 9, guided tours, children's workshops, the summer campus 'Tra Forme & Colori,' the 'Memorie d'arte' project for dementia and Alzheimer's patients, the fourth edition of the foundation's artist residency, and a catalog publication in September. The foundation, housed in the restored Villa Zanotti since 2021, focuses on concrete and constructivist art.
