Antonello Grimaldi has been reconfirmed as secretary general of the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan for another five years. Since taking office in March 2022, Grimaldi has overseen a 50% increase in visitors (from 60,000 to over 473,000 in 2025) and three consecutive years of balanced budgets. He describes himself as "a manager lent to culture" and has implemented an inclusive, non-elitist strategy: evening openings at €3, participation in city events like Orticola and Bookcity, school projects, contemporary art exhibitions (including Gaetano Pesce's last show), and a strong social media presence. Future plans include upgrading infrastructure (new changing rooms, bathrooms, climate control, security) and a café. Grimaldi emphasizes financial transparency and fair pricing (maximum ticket €20). The Ambrosiana, founded in 1607 by Cardinal Federico Borromeo, houses the Codex Atlanticus, Caravaggio's Basket of Fruit, and Raphael's cartoon for The School of Athens.
