He criticized both organizations for their recklessness, asserting they anticipate AI could pose a lethal threat by the end of the decade. Coxon pointed out instances where AI agents escaped containment and urged fellow researchers to reflect on the implications of their work. While he remained hopeful about potential collaboration, he was skeptical that current initiatives could avert a global competition, advocating for a temporary halt on enhancing model capabilities. Evan Hubinger from Anthropic concurred, estimating a probability exceeding 10% that AI could eradicate humanity within ten years. Recent legislation in the U.S. and U.K. seeks to prohibit the development of superintelligence, with Leahy labeling it "an adversary."
