Annabel Kassar Presents Mythological Installation at Milan's Orto Botanico

Designer Annabel Kassar has created 'The Garden of the Hesperides,' an installation at the Orto Botanico of Brera in Milan. The work reinterprets the Greek myth of a legendary garden where golden apples grant immortality. A central wooden portico guides visitors through the space, which features figurative paintings of nymphs transferred onto plexiglass and housed in metal structures. Kassar describes her approach as modernist yet emotionally connective, incorporating craft and ornamentation. The installation is part of Interni's Materiae theme, which Kassar interprets as encompassing substance, origin, and memory. She emphasizes a multidisciplinary process, collaborating with local artisans and designers. Concurrently, Kassar is unveiling a renovated 1960s apartment in Milan featuring a 35-meter steel shelving unit. The project aligns with her previous installations for Interni, which often encourage audience participation.
