Anna Park's 'Hot Honey' exhibition at Lehmann Maupin London merges abstract drawing with feminist critique.
Anna Park will showcase her inaugural significant retrospective, titled 'Hot Honey,' at Lehmann Maupin in London from April 30 to May 30, 2026. This exhibition includes expansive works created with charcoal, ink, and paint, blending abstract forms with figurative aspects, influenced by vintage comics and pin-up art. Originally from Daegu, South Korea, Park's childhood involved frequent relocations to New Zealand, California, and Utah before she pursued art studies in New York. Her training focused on traditional figure drawing, which she later transformed to create her unique style. Park's art features voyeuristic elements and fragmented stories, utilizing symbols like bunny ears and top hats to evoke magic shows. She critiques feminine stereotypes by contrasting glamorous pin-up visuals with witty, self-aware scenarios that question traditional beauty norms and the male perspective. Park refers to her technique as 'collaging' thoughts through chaotic compositions. In 2024, she held her first international museum exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia in Perth. Her parents, both pharmacists, encouraged her artistic ambitions after their immigration to America. The exhibition will be covered in Wallpaper*'s May 2026 Milan Preview Issue, featuring photography by Duncan Wright.
