Ann Mitchell's Poetic Photographic Landscapes Explored in Lenscratch Interview

Lenscratch recently published an in-depth interview with Ann Mitchell, a talented artist, curator, and educator from Southern California. Her work spans photography, digital collage, and classic hand-applied methods. Mitchell earned her BFA in Photography from ArtCenter College of Design and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University, and she has spent over 20 years teaching at Long Beach City College. Some of her prominent series include The Chance Chronicles, Meditative Spaces, Between Dusk and Dawn, and Impressions of the California Southland. Through platinum/palladium and gum over platinum printing techniques, she explores themes like memory, loss, and home. Growing up in a creative household in 1960s Los Angeles, she discovered photography while working in a medical school photo lab. Currently, she’s wrapping up Between Dusk and Dawn and illustrating a fable that combines ceramics and bookmaking.
