Animated surf romance 'In Waves' hits French screens after Cannes and Annecy

The animated feature film 'In Waves' premieres in French theaters on July 1, 2026. It was previously screened at the Cannes Film Festival's Semaine de la Critique and at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. The film is an adaptation of a successful graphic novel by surfer and illustrator AJ Dungo. Directed by Phuong Mai Nguyen in her feature debut, it tells a love story between a teenage boy and a girl with cancer, both passionate about surfing. The film is produced by Silex Animation.
