Ángel Marcos presents 'La casa del agua' at Museo Lázaro Galdiano in Madrid

The Museo Lázaro Galdiano in Madrid presents 'La casa del agua,' a site-specific project by Spanish visual artist Ángel Marcos. Curated by Begoña Torres, the exhibition explores themes of water, home, and journey through three installations featuring photographic series and videos. Marcos, born in Medina del Campo, Valladolid in 1955, creates work that transcends documentary photography to offer emotional and philosophical reflections on contemporary living conditions. His practice examines 'non-places'—spaces of exclusion and transience—referencing anthropologist Marc Augé's concept. The exhibition runs from April 9 to June 28, 2026, and includes sponsorship from Junta de Castilla y León, Diputación de Valladolid, Fundación Caja Rural de Zamora, and collaboration with ADIF. Marcos's work is held in collections including Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS), MUSAC, Naples Museum of Art in Florida, and The Margulies Collection at The Warehouse in Miami. The artist describes his intention as offering 'emotions, corners of the soul' rather than pure documentation, creating what curator Torres calls an 'archaeology of landscape' and 'material memory.'
