András Böröcz and László László Révész's 1980s performances revisited in exhibition

An exhibition featuring the works of Hungarian artists András Böröcz (born 1956) and László László Révész (1957–2021) from the 1980s has been curated by Dávid Fehér, with Zsófia Kergyó as assistant curator. Often referred to as 'the theatre of painters,' their innovative approach combined performance, theatre, and visual art with a touch of irony. As members of the INDIGO group under Miklós Erdély, their creations (1977-1990) drew inspiration from Shakespeare, Goethe, and various mythological narratives. Their performances incorporated classical pieces by Mozart and Mussorgsky, alternative rock, ballet, and film projections. They achieved global acclaim through tours in North America (1984, 1986), Germany (1986), and documenta 7 in Kassel (1987). The exhibition includes documentary materials, sculptures, and previously unseen video recordings.
