Ana Miljački appointed head of MIT Department of Architecture effective July 2026

Starting July 1, 2026, Ana Miljački will assume leadership of MIT's Department of Architecture, succeeding Nicholas de Monchaux. With nearly two decades at MIT, she currently serves as the Francis White Davis Professor of Architecture. Miljački has directed both the Master of Science in Architecture Studies and the Master of Architecture programs. In 2018, she founded the Critical Broadcasting Lab at MIT, where she hosts the podcast I Would Prefer Not To. Her upcoming role coincides with the department's relocation to the newly renovated Metropolitan Exchange Storage facility by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, expected to be completed between September 2026 and January 2027. Dean Hashim Sarkis praised her commitment to innovative architectural education and addressing student debt.
