Ana Kraš Debuts Silk Furniture Collection at Emma Scully Gallery

Ana Kraš has unveiled her Svila collection at Emma Scully Gallery in New York, featuring limited-edition tables and wall-mounted lights that use silk in unconventional ways. Named after the Serbian word for silk, the collection treats the fabric as a two-dimensional art form, emphasizing its semi-translucent, refractive, and textural qualities. The coffee and side tables have silk thread surfaces protected by clear glass overlays, while the sconces use backlit stretched silk sheets. Kraš, a Belgrade-born polymath trained in design, photography, and art direction, incorporated blackened ash structures with carved flourishes by Bosnian craftspeople practicing UNESCO-protected traditions. The collection reflects her recent experience of motherhood, which she equates to silk's cocoon-like formation. Kraš previously explored similar motifs in her Bonbon light collection for Danish brand Hay.
