Ana Hortides Presents 'Casa Própria' Solo Exhibition at Museu Bispo do Rosario in Rio de Janeiro

The Museu Bispo do Rosario Arte Contemporânea in Rio de Janeiro is hosting the exhibition 'Casa Própria' by artist Ana Hortides from March 21 to May 9, 2026. This marks Hortides' first solo show at the institution, curated by Pollyana Quintella and produced by Atelier Produtora. The display features works created over recent years, including new pieces, and explores the home as a symbolic, political, and emotional space. Hortides draws inspiration from the architecture of Rio's suburbs, transforming common construction materials like cement, tiles, and ceramic fragments into sculptures, installations, and paintings that challenge ideas of permanence and belonging. The exhibition, located in the gallery Carlos Miguel, includes series such as 'Casa 15' (2020-2026), 'Platibanda' (2024-2026), and 'To and fro' (2026), focusing on ornamental patterns from Brazilian popular housing. An opening guided tour by the artist is scheduled, along with educational programs covering topics like popular architecture and female artistic production. Accessibility features include audio descriptions and sign language interpreters. Admission is free, with viewing hours from Tuesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
