American Horror Story Season 13 Episode 5 'Date Night' Recap: Pig Masks, Plane Crashes, and Teletherapy

In Season 13, Episode 5 of American Horror Story, titled 'Date Night,' Ryan Murphy and co. follow up Episode 4—which featured Mamie Eisenhower, Margaret Thatcher, and Eva Braun dying in fiery crashes—with a new set of horrors. The episode opens with a 'You up?' text and introduces a Handsome Home Health Aide whose girlfriend died in the crash; he is haunted but can cook. Lesbian potlucks and teletherapy appear, and a plane-crash scene is likely to linger for viewers the next time they fly. A hot lady is the sole survivor of her girls' trip group, saved by Xanax. Ben, a good boyfriend to a girl obsessed with the number 13, is reminded of her name: Kira. The episode features good chemistry between the crazy kids, arguing lesbians, a pig killer, a crazy pig mask, and a COVID-era porcine murder spree. Ashley has survived both the pig murder and the plane crash. The recap notes missing Jessica Lange and predicts trauma sex between two characters. Questions arise about whether Ben's pissed-off ex will haunt him for sleeping with her friend, and a cursed surprise tramp stamp is celebrated. Brand placement is noted as not bad. The episode is part of Season 13 of American Horror Story, created by Ryan Murphy.
