American Bookbinders Museum Shop Features Two International Book Artisans

The Museum Shop at the American Bookbinders Museum is presenting works by two skilled book artists this winter. Pietro Accardi, originally from Turin, Italy, learned restoration, paper marbling, and bookbinding after working at his family's printing business. He operated La Legatoria del Sole for more than ten years, contributing to preservation projects in Turin's libraries and archives. Now based in the Sierra Nevadas, Accardi produces books, boxes, and scarves that blend marbling and binding methods. Sasha Mosolov, from Moscow, earned a Book Arts degree from the Moscow Institute of Graphic Arts. He started his career as an edition binder during a period when many literary works were prohibited in the Soviet Union, creating bindings for unauthorized photocopies. The shop currently carries Accardi's items, highlighting the artists' specialized techniques and historical contexts.
