Amar Kanwar Premieres New Seven-Screen Installation at Serpentine North
Serpentine North will host a significant solo exhibition featuring New Delhi artist and filmmaker Amar Kanwar, commencing on 23 September 2026 and continuing until 31 January 2027. This exhibition showcases three key film installations: The Peacock's Graveyard (2023), a seven-screen piece making its London debut, Such a Morning (2017), which was first shown at documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel, and the world premiere of The Charcoal Man (2026). The latter, commissioned by the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art in Delhi, took three years to develop and explores themes related to the 1947 Partition of the Indian subcontinent. Curated by Chris Bayley and Kit Gurnos, the exhibition will also feature a new catalogue designed by Sherna Dastur, including images, texts, and an interview with Hans Ulrich Obrist. Kanwar's collaboration with Serpentine began with the 2008 group exhibition Indian Highway.
