Amanda Heng Selected for Singapore Pavilion at 2026 Venice Biennale

Artist Amanda Heng Liang Ngim has been chosen to represent Singapore at the 61st Venice Biennale in 2026. Her exhibition, titled A Pause, will occupy the Singapore Pavilion during the Biennale Arte 2026. The presentation continues Heng's long-standing artistic exploration of bodily experiences and mundane activities. The installation will reconfigure the pavilion as an environment focused on relaxation and contemplation, highlighting simple human behaviors like sitting, observing, and waiting. This marks Singapore's twelfth participation in the International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. The project is commissioned by the National Arts Council with backing from the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and organized by the Singapore Art Museum. The selection demonstrates Singapore's ongoing dedication to promoting artists who critically engage with contemporary issues through experimental, participatory, and enduring artistic practices. It also reflects a strategic effort to provide Singaporean artists with significant international exposure and platforms for global recognition.
