Allison Katz's New York Solo Exhibition 'Outta the Bag' at Hauser & Wirth Explores Painting's Elasticity

Allison Katz unveils her inaugural solo show, 'Outta the Bag', at Hauser & Wirth in New York. The artist, originally from Montreal and currently based in London, completed her MFA at Columbia University in 2008, marking her return to the city that influenced her artistic journey. This exhibition showcases paintings that delve into the ability of art to encapsulate experiences, drawing on art history and self-portraiture. Among the highlighted pieces are 'Jaws' (2026) and 'Burden' (2026). Additionally, Katz partners with students from Chelsea Career and Technical Education High School for a community poster initiative linked to Project EATS. She previously participated in the 59th Venice Biennale and is set to launch 'Jeu d'esprit' at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in October 2026.
