Alibaba's QoderWake AI Employees Now Work in ByteDance and Tencent Apps

ai-technology · 2026-09-09

On Tuesday, Alibaba Cloud introduced the newest iteration of its QoderWake tool, which allows users to create fully operational AI 'digital employees' from just a single-line description. These digital assistants can function across China's three leading workplace communication platforms: DingTalk from Alibaba, Feishu from ByteDance, and WeCom from Tencent. Alibaba asserts that these digital workers can 'operate seamlessly' across these platforms, independently gathering context from shared documents, calendars, and group chats. This initiative signifies a strategic shift among Chinese tech companies towards business-oriented applications capable of handling intricate enterprise workflows while also promoting interoperability with competing products, moving away from their previous 'walled-garden' strategy. QoderWake provides 10 pre-configured roles, including product manager, data analyst, user interface designer, and front- and back-end developer, optimized with data from top industry teams to perform real-world tasks without further training. Since its launch in April, nearly 100,000 digital employees have been deployed through QoderWake, completing approximately 2 million tasks in real-world enterprise situations over the last three months.
