Alberto Giacometti Exhibition at Hauser & Wirth St. Moritz Explores Artistic Origins

An exhibition titled 'Alberto Giacometti. Faces and Landscapes of Home' is currently on view at Hauser & Wirth's St. Moritz gallery in Switzerland. Curated by Tobia Bezzola, the show presents 24 works tracing the artist's development from his early years in Stampa, where he was influenced by his post-impressionist father Giovanni Giacometti. The display includes early drawings, paintings of local landscapes like Lake Sils from 1921, and later sculptures such as a 1954 bust of his brother Diego. Photographs by Ernst Scheidegger documenting the artist's life are also featured. The exhibition examines how Giacometti's familial and regional connections shaped his artistic practice, which evolved from figurative beginnings to his signature existentialist style. It runs until March 28, 2026.
