Alba Matilla's 'Lágrima en el Fuego' at Sala Borrón explores digital landscapes and industrial memory

Alba Matilla's exhibition 'Lágrima en el Fuego' at Sala Borrón in Oviedo investigates the boundaries between physical territory and virtual spaces through interactive installations and paintings. The show features 'Alfabetos de Destrucción' (2025-2026), a navigable digital work where participants explore post-industrial landscapes of Asturias and other European regions as clouds. This digital cartography reflects global industrial dismantling, capturing fragile sites suspended by progress. The installation incorporates a musical composition by the Asturian group Lofácil, using percussive sounds and steam locomotive breaths from the Camocha mine locomotive housed at the Museo del Ferrocarril de Gijón, activating collective memory. Matilla's paintings translate digital elements into oil and acrylic, creating contemplative images that capture phosphorescence and saturation of disappearing landscapes. The exhibition includes textile works based on UV maps that reveal spectral images from video games. Works like 'Paradís' (2024) document threatened ruins of the Ebro Delta, while 'Dígitos' (2022) reimagines the Windows XP prairie as a suspended space. The exhibition runs until April 17, 2026.
