Akademie der Künste presents 'Vessel & Voyager' group exhibition exploring crisis, care and connection

At Berlin's Akademie der Künste, the exhibition 'Vessel & Voyager' showcases works by 25 artists from the 2024-25 JUNGE AKADEMIE fellowship program. Curated by Clara Herrmann and Linnéa Meiners, the show examines themes of containers, journeys, and narratives through diverse media. Marina Naprushkina's video 'Mama, How Much Longer?' opens the exhibition with a 12-minute film featuring her children in Vlora, Albania, accompanied by narration of Ursula K. Le Guin's 'The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction.' Ilit Azoulay presents 'Queendom,' featuring large-scale photomontages of medieval Islamic metal vessels with archival materials and a sound collaboration with a Palestinian healer. Eva Dessecker's 'La Trama' is a three-meter wooden loom woven with red thread, stones, and images exploring interconnectedness. Sarah Doerfel's 'Night Scout' combines sculptural elements with endoscopic footage and subterranean cave videos, accompanied by Laure M. Hiendl's soundscape. Hrishikesh Pawar's 'If My Body Is a House' pairs dancers with individuals living with Parkinson's disease, while Sara Stevanović addresses waste in '#WHATSINMYTRASH.' Nina Emge's photo-collage series amplifies Black women's voices in 1990s Zurich. The exhibition runs from March 13 to May 10, 2026 at the Hanseatenweg location, with accompanying events including the 'Songs of Serpents' symposium on April 17 and the 'Echoes, Ghosts, Songs & Soils' performance program on April 25.
