Ahndraya Parlato Examines Gendered Aging in First Solo Museum Show
The George Eastman Museum will host Ahndraya Parlato: TIME TO KILL, the artist's first solo museum exhibition, from June 20, 2026 to January 3, 2027. The show uses photographs, letters, and sculpture to interrogate gendered aging, exploring fears and fantasies about women becoming less culturally visible during perimenopause. Parlato blends her own lived experience with imagined future selves in a search for identity. Jamie M. Allen, the museum's Stephen B. and Janice G. Ashley Curator and Head of the Department of Photography, expressed excitement about the exhibition.
