Ahaad Alamoudi's 'Sunkissed' at Sharjah Art Foundation Explores Repetition in Gulf Transformation

Jeddah-based artist Ahaad Alamoudi presents 'Sunkissed' at Sharjah Art Foundation, an exhibition curated by Amal Al Ali that investigates how collective identity forms amid rapid Gulf development. The show features newly commissioned and recent works examining repetition as both aesthetic strategy and cultural condition. Alamoudi's practice threads humor and pop culture with reflections on memory and transformation. Key works include 'WHAT IS THIS?!', which destabilizes the falcon as cultural emblem through a looping video exchange, and 'The Great Catch', where reconfigured fly traps engage in mechanical dialogue about obsolescence and memory. 'Let's not twist and turn' stages toy vehicles in an absurd choreography that materializes fatigue from constant development. The 'Tyre mark' series translates viral digital imagery into paintings, complicating ideas of ephemerality and authorship. Earlier works like 'Those Who Don't Know Falcons Grill Them' and 'Bahara, Men of the Sea' anchor the exhibition, revealing continuities in Alamoudi's engagement with rhythm and collective experience. The exhibition structures tonal modulations between playful elements and contemplative installations, mirroring cultural negotiations between spectacle and reflection. Supported by Sharjah Art Foundation, the exhibition remains on view until 3 May 2026 at Al Mureijah Square in Sharjah.
