Adolfo Wildt sculpture leads Cambi auction of Modern and Contemporary Art

Cambi Casa d’Aste will hold its Modern and Contemporary Art auction on July 1 in Milan at Via San Marco 22, featuring 97 lots across two sessions. The first session is dedicated to a collection of art books and artist books from a private Piedmontese collection; the second features paintings and sculptures by major 20th-century Italian and international artists. The top lot is Adolfo Wildt's 1912 marble and gold sculpture 'Anima Gentile' (estimate €150,000–250,000), never before on the market. Other highlights include a 1931 watercolor, gouache, and ink on paper by Wassily Kandinsky (estimate €120,000–180,000), with provenance from David Rockefeller and exhibition history at Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf; Wifredo Lam's 1951 'Senza Titolo' (estimate €90,000–120,000); Max Ernst's 1963 oil on canvas 'Fleur Violette' (estimate €100,000–150,000); Antonio Donghi's 1937 'Ritratto equestre del Duce' (estimate €80,000–120,000), notable for the artist's later removal of the Roman salute; Tancredi Parmeggiani's 1958 'Senza Titolo' (estimate €100,000–150,000); a rare painted enamel terracotta frame by Lucio Fontana (estimate €80,000–120,000); Cagnaccio di San Pietro's oil on panel 'Madonna' (estimate €25,000–30,000); and Osvaldo Licini's 1949 'Amalassunta fondo blu' (estimate €50,000–70,000).
