Adobe launches Firefly AI Assistant for Creative Cloud apps in public beta

Adobe has launched the Firefly AI Assistant, a tool that uses text prompts to perform tasks across Creative Cloud applications like Photoshop, Premiere, and Illustrator. Originally previewed in October 2025 under the name "Project Moonlight," the assistant will enter public beta in the coming weeks. It allows users to describe creative goals, with the AI handling execution while offering controls such as sliders for adjustments, like modifying foliage in a forest scene. Adobe is also introducing "skills" for the assistant, including one for social media assets that adapts images by cropping, resizing, and optimizing files. The company is exploring integration with third-party large language models to enhance functionality, as noted by Alexandru Costin, vice president of AI and innovation, who emphasized reducing friction in using Adobe's extensive toolset. Competitors like Canva and Figma are developing similar agentic workflows, but Adobe highlights its advantage in unifying popular existing tools. Additionally, new features for Firefly include an AI video editor with noise reduction, reverb adjustment, and color tools, plus integration of Kling 3.0 and Kling 3.0 Omni models from its third-party AI library. Pricing details for the assistant remain unspecified, separate from Firefly's credit-based subscriptions.
